Bolivia (Sept - Nov 2004) 

Bolivia is the poorest country in the region.  Traveling can be challenging because of lack of decent roads.  However, those willing to put up with lack of comfort discover a reasonably safe and beautiful country.  The highlight of any visit must be the tour around Uyuni. Spectacular scenery includes salt flats with islands where huge cactus grows, volcanoes, hot springs, red and green lakes, weird shaped rocks.  
A trip to Rurrenabaque allows close encounters with abundant jungle wildlife, including alligators, monkeys, even dolphins!
