Ecuador (May 2007)

For such a small country, Ecuador boasts incredible variety.  Amazonian rain forest, active and dormant volcanoes, high mountains reaching 6300m, beaches on dry Pacific coast and, of course, the spectacular Galapagos Islands.  The islands are famous for it´s fearless wildlife and, despite being very expensive, are definitely worth a visit.   Ecuador is a very green country where most tourist attractions can be reached in a few hours by bus.  It is generally safe and the people are friendly.  They will always provide information, even if it´s incorrect.  The official currency is the US dollar.
